Didja Miss Me??

Ok, so when I am struggling in life, I tend to let my blog slide.  I have been looking for solid permanent work for a while now and hopefully I am almost there.  I am totally looking forward to 2013 - especially since the world didn't end on December 21st and all.  So, with all that said, I am working on a plan for blogging for 2013 and I hope to be able to keep it up ALL year long.  Sometimes I just end up taking on too much and then everything suffers.  I would love to blog every day, I would love to do project 365, I would love to do project life for a full year, I would love to do a cooking blog where I actually make all my pinterest recipes.  But for now I will plan on one blog a week, with an eclectic variety of things that make up my life.

Food with a Face

Ok, maybe I am weird but I don’t think that food with a face is cute – not even for children – I think it is creepy to try to eat anything that looks back at you.  I don’t care that it is totally fake looking – I don’t want my food looking back at me.  So here are a bunch of examples from pinterest – sorry I didn’t save the links but will find them for anyone who wants them. **warning graphic heavy**

See – creepy!!  And I can honestly say that even as a child I didn’t like food with faces.  I didn’t like it when we would go to IHOP and they would bring me the face pancake thing, I didn’t like it when I was 5 and got a panda bear cake – my first drama queen birthday happened over that cake because I didn’t want my mom to cut it let alone people to eat it!!  My son grew up without food with faces and I don’t think it harmed him in any way, of course I haven’t asked him so I could be wrong LOL.  Anyway, just thought I would share this with the world

Some days are better than others........

Ok if you have been reading my blog for a while now you know I suffer from depression and it is something I have battled since I was a teen.  I take my meds daily and they usually help, but I guess I don't deal well with "rejection" and losing my job two weeks ago was a huge rejection in my mind.  On top of the depression I tend to get agoraphobic.  I don't want to leave my house for many real and/or imagined reasons and can talk myself into staying in very easily, talking myself into leaving the house, however, not so easy.  It is days like this that I really need the confidence boosters that I make myself and plan to hang up all around my apartment eventually.  Today is a not so good day.  I honestly just want to curl up in my bed - let the physical pain take over - and just stay there.  But, I have not done that - I have made myself be up and doing something all day.  I still have not left my apartment today, but the day is not over yet and even if it does get to the end of the day, tomorrow is another day.

This is what I made for myself today.  It is Xena and She-Ra - these are both nicknames my family has called me through the years.  My little bit of journaling on it says "With nicknames like these you can conquer the world if you choose to".  I love that my family sees me as this warrior.  I just have to find her in me again is all.  I know she is there somewhere.

What the what the?????

So yeah during one of my “breaks” from job hunting and interviewing I was trolling the net and came across a couple of things that I feel need shared with the world. 

First the “Face-kini”.  I know, y’all are now all saying what the what the??  The term is linked to an article about it on Time.com and here is a photo so you will know what it is I'm talking about.

Now I don’t know how you feel about this but I for one would probably run into shark infested waters to avoid this person.  For me the creep factor is right off the charts.  So now onto my next discovery…

These Honest Trailers are so funny!!!!!   I have to admit I killed about an hour watching them for all different movies.  These guys are amazing and I am now their newest fan!

job hunting sucks!!

i started working at 10 - i was the neighborhood babysitter as well as my best friend and i were total dumpster divers and had "yard sales" every weekend.  by the time i was 13 i made at least three times what my mom got monthly from the state.  i kept it hidden in the wall of my room in a bag tied to a string tied to my light switch holder thing in the wall.  this money was to pay things like the electric bill when they would come to shut it off or the rent when it accidentally didnt get paid.  i worked babysitting all the way through high school as well as a few office jobs here and there.  my mom always told me that as long as you have office skills you will always have a job.  boy was she wrong.  after high school i worked at a thrift store, babysitting then as a live in helper for a foster home that had several high risk special needs kids.  i did that until i got pregnant with my son and got put on bedrest.  after i had my son i didnt live in but still helped out a lot because i could bring him with me.  when my son was 7 i went to office work and worked solidly until i lost my job in aug of 2007.  yes i have totally expended all my unemployment, but i have been working this past year and now i had to apply for unemployment again - i dont honestly think they are going to approve it, but it is worth a try.  in the meantime, i need a job.  i am actually thinking of looking into retail because at least it would be a job and if i disclose my arthritis they are supposed to make provisions for me since it is a disability.  the biggest thing is i cannot stand for very long without my back seizing up.  that my dear fans is not fun at all.  but the one thing i have figured out during this week of job searching again is that my faith in God is a lot stronger than i thought it was because i am working hard on not stressing, knowing that He has a greater plan for me than i am aware of and it will work out because it has to.  all that being said, if you could keep me in your thoughts and prayers to whomever it is you choose to have that relationship with it would be greatly appreciated.

Well sometimes life throws a curveball at you

so as of yesterday, i dont have a job.  this sucks big time.  I have been applying like mad and contacting temp agencies and I know it has only been 2 days but I really need another job here!!  But this is just a curveball.  I will get through it.  and i will come out on top i am sure.  on the plus side the weather this week is fantastic and i plan on job hunting while enjoying some of this unexpected summer vacation i have.  and I have been playing in my art journal a lot the past few days.  mostly cutting and pasting from magazines but the reason i love art journals is that there are no rules - just do what you need to do.

this page started with the greenish lips - i mean who doesnt want their lips this shade??  then i added a few quotes out of a fashion magazine and there you have it - i also wrote "i am who i am" "no excuses" "no regrets".  

these two go together - they are my version of the real me.  some weirdness, some girlishness, some kissing and a rock star....... yeah that about sums it up LOL

hey y'all it's been a while

Sorry I have been MIA the last month.  What with work, the new apartment, friends and summer I just have not been in the mood to blog about much of anything.  Things in life are good - I am very settled in my apartment now - still things I need to buy one by one, but eventually this is gonna be the most awesome studio apartment EVER!!  Summer is officially here in Seattle this weekend.  Temps in the high 80's to mid 90's - too hot for me.  I am so thankful that we only get a few of these type of days a year.  This week has also been the big Seafair week - it includes fleet week with a few navy and coast guard ships down in Elliot Bay in downtown seattle that you can stand in line and tour if you wish, hydro racing, blue angels, air show........ but me, I am staying in my apartment where it stays relatively livable if i open everything up early and shut it all up by around 10.  I went after work Wednesday and took some photos of a couple of the ships down on the waterfront.  I am finding out that I dont mind being alone.  I really was worried when I moved into my apartment because it is the first time I have really lived by myself, but I love it.  Some nights I dont even turn on music or anything - I just enjoy the silence and time to contemplate life in general.  This month I am going to be working on family tree stuff, so expect to hear about that from time to time.  I am also trying to organize all my family tree stuff in Evernote.  I just got onto this bandwagon last night, but I can see the benefits of it and how it can help me get everything in one place.  i like that i can access all my info from anywhere - even my phone, which means that when I am on the bus and have a total AHA moment I can take note of it and access it later from my laptop.
I am going to try to be much better about posting in here about my very exciting life LOL so until next time,

better update for you all

Where oh where to start – moving – that was a biggie there were very personal reasons that I decided it was time to tell Sammy and Rich that I needed to move out and would be out by the end of the month – I found a studio/hotel that I could afford if it turned out I couldn’t find anything else – it would have been a last resort but I would have done it. I talked to a few people about their rooms for rent – I had pretty much given up on getting into an apartment for several months since I didn’t have last and deposit saved yet as I was expecting to stay with Sammy and Rich at least through the summer. Well in the process of looking I went through the apartment rentals on craigslist because a lot of people post things incorrectly and found a studio in renton that said it was within walking distance to the park and ride (I don’t drive) and well within my budget – and it said that they were willing to work with the right person on last and deposit. So I tried for it, and I got it. I am all moved in and loving my place and my neighbors and living on my own. I thought I would be scared at night alone but Im not. And we worked out all the details and while it means not quite as much fun moneywise this summer I am ok with that. Cuz I am all about free fun in seattle!! And I will have a little money to play with just have to really stick to my budget so that I can stay on track.

What else has been going on in life? Loving all the roller derby I have gotten to see – huge thanks to my sister Jaymee for being so involved and so awesome as to let me be her plus one when she has one. My photos are getting better as I really figure out what settings work best for what situations and where to sit in which setting to get the best shots. I have also been taking a huge amount of flower photos as well as have visited a couple out of the way cemeteries. I don’t really have internet right at the moment so pictures will have to wait but will add some eventually.

I got a new tv – not my flat screen tv yet, but a nice one with a built in dvd player that was free thanks to one of the neighbors getting their new flat screen tv so it went to the other neighbor and they gave me the smaller one – it was totally my choice but I just couldn’t see that huge tv in my little place  so I chose the small one. It really is all I need.

We are having a spaghetti feed Saturday for all 4 of us in our little fourplex. It should be fun. And I worked out that Jesse (my son) is going to come once a week and do the cleaning that really hurts me like the tub and the floors. He is cheaper than a cleaning service and he knows how freakin picky I am about things.

Funny things that have been noted by me this week, at fred meyer the produce guy was vacuuming the onions to remove all the dried skins – never saw that one before. We have had plumbers crawling around our building for two days cleaning out all the pipes and the only crawlspace entry is in my closet, so I have had random men popping up and out of my closet. Talk about a dream house LOL I also have a two foot tall santa standing in the middle of my place. One of the neighbors gave him to me and we decided he can just hang out till Christmas but until thanksgiving he is Gandolf not santa and his little tree is a staff in the making!! And the silly plumber guy said everyone should totally decorate for christmas in july – if they can sell us on sales for it we should be able to decorate!! Oh and people on the bus are an ever constant “free show” for me. There was a lady the other day who in a 30 minute ride changed seats 5 times including standing for a while. Not sure what that was all about but it was interesting.

Random thought - I am going to have to be very careful to include meat in my diet – with summer here I could care less about the meat aspect since there are so many readily available fruits and veggies. But with my iron issues I know I have to eat freakin red meat. Any ideas people on making it just a little easier??

Oh yeah, I am off my blood pressure medicine officially. I have not had it in like two months because my dr wanted my pressure checked first and I could not make it up to port townsend since I am working. Well now that I know I am settled for a good long while, I called the clinic in renton and it was still under the cutoff to be a returning patient and not a new one so that worked out well. I am also enjoying the freedom of living where I can be completely idependent – I have no others to really worry about so if I don’t feel like going straight home, I can hang out in seattle or go out or just do whatever. It is great. I didn’t realize quite how ready I was for this step of taking my life back from the depression (or the dark black pit of hell as I call it). so far this week I have had my dr appointment and just kinda hung out in renton until it was time for it, I went to the farmers market and hung out with my friend Naomi for a while – she was helping sell some tea. And yesterday after work I just walked down to Westlake and took photos of life and randomness. Today, it will be straight home to cook up some stirfry.

Metro Bus Rantings

Ok people – for those of you that missed my first public service announcement on perfume and cologne – lets start over again.  Perfume and/or cologne are meant to enhance not announce.  When you are going to be in public and are worried about your personal odor please take a shower and wash with soap and water.  It really does wonders.  When you drown yourself in axe or your favorite Brittney or Justin perfume all it does is aggravate those of us who have fully functioning noses.  It also causes those of us with allergies and/or asthma to have a reaction.  Personally I have had everything from just a little runny nose to full out anaphalactic shock from someone’s perfume/cologne.  You are not the only person on the bus.

Now on to another issue I see frequently – make up – again meant to enhance your natural beauty not announce that you are a tammy faye baker fan – don’t get the joke?  Google it!  It is not a good thing – people laugh at you.  But I guess in the end it is your face.

Oh and while I am on my soapbox – it is awesome when you get that whole double seat to yourself, I totally understand the personal bubble issues that can arise from strange highly perfumed people sit next to you – please do not throw your long ass legs out over the seat and hang your feet in the freakin isle where people need to walk.  You can put your legs up without all that pay attention to my feet shit.

And finally – I honestly could care less what your affiliations are in whatever form you will choose to be offended by this – but guys --- PULL YOUR DAMN PANTS UP!!  The last time I checked it was a felony for people above the age of 21 to stare at the nether regions of people under the age of 18 and it should be a crime for you guys to have your underware and butts hanging outside of your pants – the same goes for you girls (I will not say ladies) who want to wear shirts that show almost your whole boob area and skirts or shorts that don’t cover as much as my little panties with the days of the week on them did when I was 9.

update 6/27/12

hi all, sorry i have been mia -- i moved - into an awesome little studio apt in renton where i grew up.  i have not been here a week even yet and it is definately home.  i love my place and my neighbors (it is a little fourplex) and the week before that i was packing up to move because this all happened suddenly and fast.  between that and work, oh and very intermitent internet for now - i just havent had the time to update my blog.  hopefully i will have internet again soon and can really go to town in the evenings.  until then though, this will have to do

while at work seattle fire dept blocked off two city blocks and called the hazmat team due to a man committing suicide in the building i wish i could afford to live in  by work - he did this by burning something in his bbq inside and the fumes required the hazmat team to evacuate and all for safety.  we were on the side of the street that didnt get blocked so we were not evacuated.

during downtime today i read articles from historylink.org which is washington state history- i was reading the people’s histories section - some very interesting articles in there!!  read a 4 part series from a washington pioneer and an article about bess the mule being worked 24/7 and the resulting humane society intervention from 1914
on the way home the bus was stuck behind a pretty bad accident for over 20 minutes until an officer finally blocked stuff to let us go through.  it looked as though it was a head on accident but my phone photos suck and i couldnt find anything in the news so who actually knows - not me.

sammy lost her wallet today - she thinks she left it on top of the car when she got gas - so we got to get groceries with her having a total anziety attack and the ride home was pretty terrifying.  after she dropped me, william and the groceries off she and rich drove all around where we had been looking for her wallet and didnt find it.
